the happy prince
The protagonist of the story is the golden statue of a prince, who is on top of a column where you can see the whole city, and a swallow, which has delayed its migration to Africa for the love he felt for a beer. The swallow is perched on the statue and see that the prince is crying because of the injustices that can be seen from their position. Then asks the swallow to give the needy the jewels that adorn it. The bird does it, and gets the prince during the following weeks, distributing the jewelry until the statue is completely devoid of gold and ornaments. But winter deepens and the swallow, with cold, kissing the prince dies on the lips. Seeing this, the heart of the statue is broken. The next day, the mayor noted the deteriorated state of the statue, and gives orders to be withdrawn and melted. However, the prince's heart does not melt in the oven, and throw a lot of dust, which also lies the body of the swallow.
"Bring me the two most precious things in the city.
And the Angel brought Him the leaden heart and the dead bird.
"You have chosen well," said God. In my garden of Paradise this little bird shall sing for evermore, and in my city of gold the Happy Prince shall praise me.
